Beating Spinal Stenosis with Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery
At 67, Mr. Ira Mark Kreindel had persistent lower back pain radiating down his right leg that made it difficult to walk or even get out of bed.
After months of pain, he sought care from Dr. Kitidate Boonchai, a spine surgeon at Vejthani International Hospital. His MRI revealed lumbar spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal canal in his lower back that was compressing the nerves.
Dr. Kitidate recommended minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MIS TLIF) to relieve the nerve compression and stabilize the affected spinal segment with titanium screws. The technique uses smaller incisions and limits disruption to the surrounding muscles, helping support recovery.
After the treatment, Mr. Kreindel was able to get up and walk without the radiating leg pain he had experienced before. He returned home two days later and reported more than 90% improvement in his numbness and weakness.
For Mr. Kreindel, the care he received was just as memorable as his recovery.
